impressed
By ponz q.
Let me start by saying i am very impressed with okumas quality.I purchased this rod (7' h/m) to take on a fishing trip to Hawaii along with a avet lx raptor reel 80# braid 60# mono , the alps reel seat is very solid as is the hole rod . largest fish landed was a 120# + ahi tuna. using the heavy tip and this rod didnt even flinch, having to use a chair because of conditions it performed well the gimbal took a beating (weather conditions) but had just one little scratch .the guides were smooth with both braid and mono. Boat crew was absolutly impressed with the rod then were floored to find out it was a three piece. oh ya and the travel part no problems goes carry on . hope this helped thanks

Not as advertised, but still not bad
By TC
I purchased the 7' M/ML action casting rod that was listed as 15-45 lbs. The rod is actually rated by Okuma as 10-30 lbs. That may be a very large disparity for some, but I was still comfortable with the rod's strength. Assembled it felt very solid and comfortable due to the very long foregrip and reargrip. I paired the rod with an Abu Garcia Alphamar reel that I also purchased on Amazon and together they performed very well.My biggest gripe wasn't with the rod, it was with the rod carrying case. The are a series of Velcro straps to secure the rod pieces in the case. The straps are attached to the liner and the liner was tearing away from the inside of the case. The rod pieces didn't feel secure in the case because of that. I would have been happy with a replacement but unfortunately I wasn't given that option with Amazon. I'm going to check with Okuma to see if they would be willing to replace the case or I'm sending the whole thing back for a refund. It wouldn't be a big deal if the case started to fall apart after a few trips but not before it ever saw the water.

Impressive
By Bridge H. Mei
I've come to really like Okuma brand fishing!I wanted to get a light duty saltwater rod that could also stand up to some medium action out on the seas. I also needed it to be somewhat portable, so after doing some searching online - I narrowed it down to the Okuma Nomad. I also own an okuma trio reel paired with a c3 rod that I use for trout fishing - i love that too! So I had pretty high expectations for this rod.Upon opening the box and playing around with the rod for a bit, my first impressions are that this is a great quality rod. Looks and feels fantastic. As another reviewer stated, the connections joints don't meet flush (up to 1/2 inch, depending how much force you want to use to jam it in there), but I don't think that will inhibit the rod's performance overall. It's light and feels great under my arm. Also Amazon has the best price on the L/ML rod that I've seen anywhere! Paired with my Okuma Clarion I hope this rod will serve me for the rest of my fishing years, certainly so if/when I travel and there's fishing opportunities. I may sound a bit like an Okuma fanboy, but I'm also a realist - If I notice any negative sides to this rod after i take her out, I'll update my review.
