Great rod

I bought these to take with me to Alaska with me next year. I am not sure if they have enough backbone for that or not...I haven't hooked a big fish with one yet. A 5lb blue has been it so far. It may be that the IM8 graphite is lighter than graphite rods I own now but the XH looks like a medium action steelhead rod. I purchased 2 of these rods and am very happy with them. So far I have only done some pier fishing in Alabama with them but there is no doubt that they would be suitable for a salmon in the high 20 lb range. The price is great also. Not any fancy wraps on the ferrels but when you are fishing, who cares? You will not have any problems with this rod with any fish (other than maybe a sturgeon) in the freshwater's of North America and it would work with most saltwater species. I will update this after I catch my first King Mackerel.

For the money this is hard to beat. Good quality for under $100. Make sure to choose the model that best fits your fishing style. Another nice option is the Okuma SST rods.

A friend of mine bought this rod last year for bobber fishing for salmon. It was a real pleasure to fish with. I've always used Lamiglas rods, but in recent years have tried a number of the Berkleys and have found them to be a very good rod and a very reasonable price.
