Perfect for Inshore Fishing

This rod is light yet strong enough to handle inshore species like Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder. I've paired it with an Abu Garcia Revo MGX low profile reel, for a true lightweight fishing experience. It's perfect for topwater lures and for jigging soft plastics all day long!

Great Little Rod!!

I've read reviews on other sites that call into question the durability of this rod. Well I own 5 in varying powers and actions and have never had a single issue. I take very good care of my equipment, but I definitely put everything through the ringer just to be sure. (pulling up anchor and reeling my little pram over to the lilly pad or log I'm hung up on is all the quality assurance I'll ever need.)That all being said, I really can't say enough about this rod. I first purchased the 5'6" ultralight about 3 years ago at a local store.... based solely on how it felt in my hand. I was looking for an ultralight setup and was brokenhearted that I'd probably have to shell out 300 bucks for a loomis or fenwick to suit my extremely finicky fishing tastes. And lo and behold, on the rack for 25 bucks was perhaps the most perfect rod I've ever held... I guess it could be improved with a split grip handle but I'm not that picky! It's definitely well balanced enough. The handle is extremely comfortable in the hand (no exposed threads on the reel seat, which I think should be outlawed because it's just uncomfortable as can be!) The rod has plenty of backbone and a nice fast/extra fast action and a stiff tip for great hooksets along with extreme casting distance and accuracy. The guides run extremely smooth with both mono and braid. The two piece construction helps a lot if you don't have excess room to store it in your car or truck, although admittedly I've only taken mine apart once or twice since I bought it. All in all, I don't think I could really come up with a better rod for 10 times the price... and in the price range it's in, it's unbeatable!

WHAT A great ROD!

Don't know where I got this rod maybe walmart last year, BUTT It is a great rod. Sensitive and just powerful enough to pull in 20" trout. Using 4 lb test line. Eyelets a hair bigger than normal allows great casting for a 5 ft rod. I don't even like Graphite rods. But I bought two more of these for a spare...... and my Grandson. Gives you the feel of like a $70 fenwick.Check around prices vary and the newer red one is a little different with the botttom eyelet a double leg and red thread. This grey one is 2009/10 model. good luck

Fishing for a compliment try holy mackerel nothing fishy here.Ok for the beginning fisherman and compact for backpacking. I've been told never to over-extend the lengths of these telescoping rods as they can come appart when casting.

Great Rod...Great Price

This is a great jigging rod that can be used for all types of fishing. A very versitle rod. This rod does not state that it is a Spinning Rod. I use jigging rods now for all my fishing. They have the extra power when needed and the light weight is a big plus.

Shakespeare did a great job with this rod. We use this with butterfly jigs and 3 to 6 oz. jig/grub combos for Grouper and Snapper. A great all around bottom fishing set up.

Excellent rod!

Purchased this rod to replace an inexpensive Jarvis Walker after seeing a fellow fisherman use it on a inshore wreck trip. The selling point for me is how the grip tapers inward in the middle. It's very comfortable! I've only had it a month or so, and have used it on a few fluke trips and sea bass (at about 40-60ft). I use 30lb PowerPro braid with about 20ft of 30- or 40-lb shock leader (tied uni-uni). Both lines and splice pass through the guides without a problem. I'm looking forward to taking it on a marathon sea bass trip this weekend in deeper waters, and I know the lightness of this rod will allow me stay at the rail all day. Currently paired with a POS Daiwa spinner, but switching to a new Penn Battle as soon as I finish this review. :)

Lightest rod I own....

This rod is just great. Each time I pick it up to take with me I marvel at how light it is. Hard to believe it's a Heavy, but it is. I have it outfitted with a Calcutta reel, also light, and the whole setup couldn't be more pleasant to use. Got a 50# King Salmon with it in Alaska and it didn't squeak a bit. Had all the backbone you would hope for.If you want a quality rod, Lamiglas Cert Pros are great. I DO notice a difference from their regular line as far as rod weight, and for me, it's worth the extra money if you like the feel of a strong but light rod in your hand.

Okuma's Nomad Inshore Travel rods are designed with the travel enthusiasts in mind. Now you can pack up your rods with ease and head to any exotic location. Okuma Nomad Inshore rods is the only rod you need when planning your exotic fishing trip. These rods allow you to create two rods in one. What is extremely unique about this rod series is that the rod comes with two different action tips allowing you the versatility to fish different scenarios depending on what fish are biting and the conditions you are faced with. The innovative and extremely durable European Spigot ferrule design and look different, but it has been tested giving you all the feel and power of a one piece rod that comes in three sections for easy transportation. The connections come together and pull apart simply with the rubberized ferrule grip connection system. Nomad saltwater rods use top quality components with ALPS guides, 2-tone anodized aluminum reel seat and machined aluminum trigger reel seat on casting models.

This is a must for salt water inshore.

These rods have quality cork grips , Alps Aluminum Sets & Carbon Fiber rod components, Fuji guides with a nice fore grip piece. I have both the spinning version & casting rods. They come with two tip L & ML so basically you have 2 rod combination. I have mine paired with Cedros reels. We call the casting rod "The Lucky One" as who ever has it is catching the biggest & most fish. These are a must if you travel, fly & fish saltwater.

Nomad travel rods.

I now own both a conventional, and a spinning Okuma travel rod. The rods are great. I put both in one travel bag, and they go easily in a overhead bin on a plane. The Okuma Helios reels pair up with these rods very well. The combination is feather lite in your hands.
